The Women’s Global Development Squad (WGDS) scheduled to tour Australia next week will be led by Pakistan’s Bismah Maroof. The 28-year-old Pakistan women’s team captain is a vastly experienced cricketer from her country, having played 103 ODIs 100 T20Is.
The WGDS consists of players from a total of eight countries with the tour being organized for the sole purpose of providing international exposure to the cricketers and enhancing their skillset. Shedding light on the opportunity to captain a diverse cricket team, Bismah said she looked forward to transferring her expertise to the young members of the side.
“It’s an honour to be leading this side. This is an excellent platform provided by the ICC for players of different sides. As captain, I will try my level best to share my experiences on and off the field. There will be girls from different cultures and it will be a new challenge for me,” she remarked.
