Ahmed Shehzad is a polarizing figure in Pakistan cricket with his detractors complaining about his disciplinary issues and inconsistency. Nevertheless, the right-handed opening batsman is back in the national setup after a prolonged period of enforced absence from the side.
He will be playing in the T20I series against Sri Lanka and Shehzad has expressed his eagerness to contribute to the team once again.
The 27-year-old said his first appearance in Pakistan’s kit in almost a year seemed like a new experience altogether and hoped he could turn it into a memorable occasion.
“I am thankful to the Almighty that I have gotten an opportunity to represent the Pakistan team once again. This opportunity feels like I am wearing Pakistan’s kit for the first time,” he told PCB’s website.
“It cannot get any bigger for me to be playing cricket in front of my people. Our people are passionate about the game. It unites us and people pray for our success,” Shehzad added.
