Mohammed Shami completely rattled South Africa’s batting lineup in the second innings of the first Test match as he picked up a splendid five-wicket haul. Getting the ball to swing at extravagantly high speeds, Shami’s sizzling spell of bowling quickly unraveled the Proteas batting.
Commenting upon his fellow teammate’s stupendous bowling heroics, senior Indian batsman Rohit Sharma revealed a rather funny secret explaining the right-arm paceman’s tremendous success. Rohit claimed that Shami had been devouring the local dish ‘biryani’, which allowed him to run riot against the tourists.
“We all know what Shami can do when he is fresh and has a bit of biryani,” the 32-year-old told reporters. Rohit’s explanation left the whole room in splits.
India have gone 1-0 up in the three-match series and are in a strong position to achieve a record-equaling 11th home series win on the trot.
