India stamped their authority in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship by beating South Africa in the opening Test match by a whopping margin of 203 runs. With this victory, the men in blue deposited 40 more crucial points in their kit for the global red-ball competition.
A major talking point of the game was the batting performance of the opening batsman Rohit Sharma who scored twin centuries in his first red-ball outing as an opener for India. Scoring 303 runs in the game, the flamboyant cricketer went on to bag the player of the match award.
Rohit was found in a jubilant manner as registering a stellar performance allowed his team to start the three-game Test series on a winning note. The 32-year old cricketer revealed that it was communicated to him that he might open in Tests at some stage.
