Halting the progress of the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 has become an impossible task. After registering stunning performance in the group stage of the tournament, the unit stretched their winning run in qualifier against Barbados to qualify for the final of the 20-over event.
Skipper of the side Shoaib Malik couldn’t have picked a better opportunity to complete his 9000 runs in T20 cricket. The Pakistani veteran became only the fourth player to achieve this feat and he celebrated it by recording a fantastic all-round performance in the West Indian T20 frenzy. Other three cricketers to do so are Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum and Kieron Pollard.
Apart from producing a cameo of 32 runs which consumed only 19 balls, the Sialkot born chipped in with a crucial wicket of JP Duminy to dent Barbados’ chase. Malik was elated to see his team getting installed in the final of the tourney as he now awaits the result of the second qualifier which is to be played between Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Tridents.
