Sri Lanka trounced Pakistan for the second time on the trot in the T20I series in Lahore as they triumphed by a comfortable margin of 35 runs to claim their first ever series win over the hosts in the shortest format.
The thumping win for Sri Lanka was set primarily set by wily leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, whose three wickets in the space of four deliveries completely demolished any prospects of Pakistan chasing the target successfully. The 22-year-old, who made his international debut just two years ago, showcased a lot of maturity by ripping out the heart of Pakistan’s middle order.
Hasaranga tactfully employed the use of googlies during his remarkable over that saw the back of Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal and skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. Pitched in the perfect spot, his wrong one sharply turned to hit the bullseye on all three occasions. Hasaranga’s impressive bowling heroics have thus earned his side an unassailable 2-0 lead.
