Pakistan’s middle-order batsman, Asif Ali is struggling to play his role down the order for the country in the limited-overs format. The 28-year old, who has been selected in the team for his six-hitting ability, has failed to do justice with his crux of selection.
Although, he was the 2nd highest scorer for Pakistan (29 off 27 balls) in the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka, yet he was not playing at his best. He has not been able to perform consistently for Pakistan in T20Is and ODIs as well.
Averaging 21 in T20Is and 27.76 in ODIs, the right-handed batsman has not solidified his position in the squad. Pakistan selected him in the team to deal with their power-hitting issue in the depth overs, but the issue is still not countered. Asif has to prove his point if he wants to stay in the team otherwise, he will become an unwanted burden in the Pakistani squad.
