Despite being loaded with second string cricketers, Sri Lanka has surprised everyone by beating the top-ranked T20I side Pakistan in their own backyard. After thumping the boys in green in the first game, the Islanders produced another influential performance to win the next match and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game T20I series.
While Nuwan Pradeep and Wanindu Hasaranga delivered stunning bowling spells, the day belonged to the dashing left-handed batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa. The prolific batsman, while playing only his second T20I game, batted like a pro to score a spectacular half-century. In his innings of 77 runs, the 27-year old smashed 4 fours and 6 sixes to manage a strike-rate in excess of 160.
This batting performance allowed Sri Lanka to post a mammoth total of 182 runs on the board which proved too much for the hosts. For his heroic outing, the Colombo born flew away with the player of the match award. Rajapaksa was found elated to see his team pulling out a magical performance as he wants to see Sri Lanka recording a whitewash.
