The 29-year old Iftikhar Ahmed announced himself in a productive way during Pakistan vs Sri Lanka series. The right-handed batsman scored some useful runs for Pakistan and also bowled off-spin when needed. He scored 102 runs in his 4 innings against Sri Lanka at a whopping strike-rate of 137.83
Moreover, he remained unbeaten throughout the whole series as no bowler was able to dismiss him. Iftikhar bats at the number 4 position in domestic cricket, where he has scored 1751 runs at an average of 72.95.
Pakistan’s management has certainly delayed his selection for the National team. He was inducted in the squad couple of years before during the Test series against England, and then he was dropped from the side just after playing him one match. Pakistan can use him in the middle-order to cover up the gap created by Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez.
