Discarded veteran left-handed batsman Fawad Alam is back in the selection radar after reports have emerged he might be in line for a Test comeback in the upcoming two-match series in Australia. Fawad, who last played a red-ball game for Pakistan in 2009, has continued to heavily score runs in the domestic circuit.
Fawad’s prolonged absence from the national side has become a topic of much debate among Pakistan fans, with several critics lashing out at the selectors for not picking him. However, this scenario might change in the coming days as sources reveal head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq is keeping tabs on Fawad’s progress in domestic cricket.
It has come to the fore that Misbah has inquired about Fawad’s performance and fitness standards from the Sindh coach Azam Khan. His inclusion is still uncertain for the tour of Australia but this is certainly a positive development for the middle-order batsman.
