Pakistan’s recent T20 series whitewash at the hands of Sri Lanka has set in motion a wave of heated criticism towards the new coaching setup. Former players have thus taken the new head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis to task for the abysmal performance of the Pakistan side.
Among those severely critical of the tactics employed by the home side during their three successive defeats, former pacer Aaqib Javed has been the most vocal.
Replying to the caustic remarks of Aaqib, Waqar has hit back and asked the 47-year-old to instead focus on his Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars.
Waqar Younis lashes out at Aaqib Javed for his remarks about Pakistan team
“Aaqib Javed has no right to criticize Pakistan team’s performance or management because he has been the coach/director of Lahore Qalandars for several years and hasn’t qualified for the PSL eliminators yet. He needs to focus on Lahore Qalandars’ performance,” he said.
Aaqib has been in the head coach role of Lahore Qalandars but they have always finished last in all the four PSL seasons to be held until now.
