Huge news came directly from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the morning of Friday about the removal of Sarfraz Ahmed from the Test and T20I captaincy. Azhar Ali is all set to replace him as Test captain and Babar Azam will take charge of the T20I leadership.
Sarfraz will also be dropped from the Pakistan’s Test and T20I side for the Australia tour. Sarfraz Ahmed was the captain of all 3 formats previously.
The decision has been taken considering his performances in the last couple of years. Sarfraz was unable to perform with the bat and became a burden on the already struggling batting-line.
Under Sarfraz, Pakistan won the Champions Trophy in 2017. The team became the power-house under him in the T20I format with 11 consecutive series wins. Sarfraz’s record as the captain was not really praiseworthy, he won 4 out of 13 matches with the win percentage of 30.76.
