After losing their first game of the National T20 Cup 2019 against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Balochistan has recorded a commendable comeback. Taking down strong units of Sindh and Central Punjab, this time Balochistan defeated Southern Punjab to record their 3rd consecutive victory of the tournament.
In the 9th game of the ongoing domestic 20-over championship, Balochistan won the toss and decided to bowl first. The move worked for them as they restricted Southern Punjab to a total of 144 runs. In reply, Balochistan delivered a strong batting show to deposit 2 more points in their kit.
Their batting reply was led by the prowess of the opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq who portrayed his effective range of strokes. Keeping in the view the required scoring rate, the 23-year old kept finding gaps and complemented it with occasional boundaries to manage a healthy scoring rate of 130.76.
Imam, scoring 51 runs using just 39 balls, recorded his 14th T20 half-century. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to finish the game, but it was his cool head at the top of the order which allowed Balochistan to gain an advantageous position and eventually win the game.
