The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shown their displeasure over the comments made by Senator Mushahidullah Khan recently following the T20I series whitewash at the hands of Sri Lanka. Senator Mushahidullah declared that the inclusion of Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal was a forced selection.
The PCB made its position clear to the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination. “The PCB is saddened with the learned Senator’s comments and wishes to put the facts right,” PCB responded.
“Firstly, Misbah-ul-Haq, along with the selection committee, is completely empowered to select the best available players to represent Pakistan. Secondly, the PCB encourages and ensures the independence of its selectors enabling them to work without any fear or favour,” PCB’s statement read.
They reasoned the selection of Shehzad and Akmal was done considering their impressive performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
