Markram suffers wrist injury in frustration

Days after Mitchell Marsh fractured his hand for punching the dressing room wall, Aiden Markram has also suffered a wrist injury in similar circumstances. The South African opening batsman reportedly “lashed out at a solid object” in frustration after being dismissed for a duck in the second innings of the Pune Test against India.

Markram was adjudged lbw for his second score of nought in the match which upon replays showed the ball missing the stumps. He then proceeded to strike a solid object in frustration, which fractured his wrist bones.

"It's sad to be going home on this note and I completely understand what I've done wrong and take full accountability for it. It's unacceptable in a Proteas environment and to let the team down is what hurts me the most. I've learned a lot from this and the other players I'm sure, have learned from it as well,” Markram said.
