Pakistan’s senior wicket-keeper batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed has been removed from the captaincy post in Tests and T20Is with Azhar Ali and Babar Azam being named the new leaders of the red-ball and white-ball unit.
“It has been an honor to lead Pakistan at the highest level. I want to thank all my colleagues, coaches and selectors who have helped me in this journey. My good wishes are with Azhar Ali, Babar Azam and the Pakistan cricket team, and I hope they will continue to grow stronger and stronger,” Sarfaraz said in a statement.
Despite the surprise sacking of Sarfaraz, especially in the shortest format, the 32-year-old positively viewed the development and sent out good vibes to Babar and Azhar. He hoped the Pakistan side would continue to prosper and succeed in the future.
