PCB apologizes for offensive tweet after Sarfaraz's sacking

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) apologized after posting what has been categorized by fans as an insensitive tweet right after dismissing wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed from the position as captain from Tests and T20Is.

PCB’s official Twitter account tweeted a GIF depicting opening batsman Fakhar Zaman dancing alongside other teammates while Sarfaraz was shown in the background leaving the scene.

As soon as the tweet began to attract unwanted attention on social media and was criticized by several fans, PCB posted a response and clarified their position.

They admitted while the tweet’s timing was wrong, it was actually posted in response to the T20 World Cup’s official Twitter account with celebration emojis marking the countdown to the showpiece event.
