Having made his debut even before the former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik hasn’t been able to book a permanent place in the national team of India. During his start-stop journey in the International cricket, Dinesh played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 32 T20Is.
However, with the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup not being far away, the domestic stalwart is hungry to grab the vacant finisher position for the men in blue.
The 34-year old was recently found in glorious form as he produced some breathtaking batting performances while playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Dinesh revealed that he’s honing his skills for finishing as India is in search of a finisher and he wants to put his hands up.
“I am glad to make the crucial runs for my team in the death overs with the World Cup coming up. Knowing my batting style, it would be easy to bat up the order and make those big runs. But, I am trying to do what MS Dhoni did it for us for so many years – standing up and finishing the game under pressure,” said the Chennai born while revealing his future plans.
