Rohit Sharma hit his maiden double century in Test cricket with a breathtaking knock of 212 from 255 deliveries. Playing his first series as India’s Test opener, he made full use of the opportunity with consistent stellar performances across the three games.
Awed by the amount of success Rohit has achieved in the series against South Africa, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar claimed the senior batsman was merely taking revenge from himself.
Akhtar suggested that Rohit’s newfound sensational form is a strong response to the initial part of his Test career where he carelessly threw away stars.
Rohit has always been struggling to find a permanent spot in India’s Test lineup but Akhtar believes his promotion to the opening slot has been a game-changer and the 32-year-old is now making up for his underwhelming Test record.
