Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sacked Sarfraz Ahmed as the captain of the national team. This decision was taken considering the performance of the wicket-keeper batsman in the recent past. After a humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka in the T20I series at home, PCB was forced for a call of change.
Pakistan’s current bowling coach Waqar Younis, thanked Sarfraz Ahmed for his services and wished him good luck. “Dear Sarfraz Ahmed, Thank You for all the good work. Your services (as the captain of Pakistan Cricket team) will never be forgotten”, Waqar tweeted.
Under his captaincy reign, Sarfraz won Pakistan the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. He helped Pakistan to excel at the number 1 T20I ranking with an exceptional win percentage of 78. However, Sarfraz struggled as a captain in Test matches. During his leadership, Pakistan won only 4 out of 13 Test matches they played.
