Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has labelled Nida Dar as a “game-changer” as she recently became the first Pakistani cricketer to be signed on in the Women’s Big Bash League where she is currently representing the Sydney Thunder franchise.
Afridi extended support to Nida, who is dubbed “Lady Boom Boom” owing to her ability to strike big sixes. The explosive all-rounder hoped Nida’s moving journey to playing international cricket will inspire many others to follow her footsteps.
The 32-year-old grew up idolizing Afridi and she often emulates his celebratory style of raising arms in the air whenever she dismisses an opposing batter. Nida stated that when she was a child, she used to play in the streets with her brothers and male cousins but the narrative was slowly changing around women’s cricket with more females pursuing the sport in Pakistan.
