Pakistan’s T20I skipper Babar Azam once again shone in the National T20 Cup as he displayed a batting masterclass in the clash between Central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The 25-year-old played his trademark crisp drives during a fantastic knock of 83 from 56 deliveries.
Babar’s voluminous contribution with the bat is his 13th 50-plus score in T20 cricket this year, going past the previous best of 12 such scores by Umar Akmal. Babar now holds the record for the most number of 50-plus scores in the shortest format for a Pakistan batsman in a calendar year.
Often criticized for his inability to strike maximums, Babar smashed four sixes in his glittering innings putting that debate to rest. Despite his heroics with the bat, the Babar-led Central Punjab crashed out of the tournament in the first round as they were defeated by seven wickets.
