Former Australian Cricketer, Andrew Symonds takes a jibe at Chris Lynn, who recently bashed the Australian selectors for ignoring him for the T20I squad against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The opening batsman criticized the lack of communication among the selectors and targeted it as the reason for his non-selection.
Symonds did not like the way adopted by Lynn and censured him badly. “Lynn made a rod for his own back there, because he’s not playing Shield cricket,” Symonds told the local news outlet. I have spoken to him seriously about it a couple of times. He doesn’t want to play it.”, Symonds added.
“It’s up to him. I have tried to help change his mind but he’s adamant that it’s not what he wants to do. “The other thing is it is going to sharpen his senses because he’s going to be playing the best bowlers in domestic cricket,” The British- born added.
“That's going to skill him up a lot better, in my opinion, than going all over the world and playing in these pulled-together Twenty20 competitions. You see some of them and the standard of cricket is not high. He’s a game-breaker but he hasn’t broken enough games to really say he’s one of the first picked.” Symonds concluded.
Chris Lynn played against Sri Lanka in the Prime Minister’s XI recently where he only managed to score 3 runs. Lynn played his last T20I game against India last year, whereas his last ODI game was against Pakistan 2 years ago. His performances with the bat in the recent past have not been praiseworthy; however, he resides on the Australian selectors’ plans.
