Kamran Akmal, the wicket-keeper batsman of Pakistan, failed to blossom in the International arena despite being one of the strongest and consistent performers of the domestic circuit. This is evident from his numbers which stand at 30.79 in Tests, 26.09 in ODIs and 21 in T20Is.
Nevertheless, Kamran still appears to be strong T20 batsman as he has continued to do well in the 20-over cricket, particularly the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Looking at Pakistan’s T20I unit against Australia, one could detect a lack of firepower and the notion was recently endorsed by the former Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar.
After Rashid Latif, Akhtar also decided to voice his opinion concerning Kamran’s inclusion in the T20I team. The 44-year old is of the view that the Lahore born knows how to approach a T20 game and for this reason, he should have been in the squad to play Australia next month.
The cricketer turned commentator added that the selection panel made a mistake as Pakistan would need an aggressive cricketer like Kamran Akmal against the Aussies. It remains to be seen how Pakistan progresses against the quality of Kangaroos.
