Pakistan recently conducted a successful edition of the National T20 Cup with their new 6-team model. Filled with a number of skilled cricketers, the tournament provided a lot of entertainment with Northern beating Balochistan by 52 runs in the final of the tournament.
Umar Amin, the top-order batsman, proved to be the match-winner for Northern as his 19th half-century in the T20 cricket helped his team claim glory in the tourney. After the game, the 30-year old shared his views on the new model as he applauded the quality of the competition.
“If you see the overall tournament, it was extremely competitive as the quality was really high. This time, we only had 6 teams in the competition, while the units stretched to 15 or 16 in the previous model. Hence quality used to get compromised to an extent. I loved playing this event as it forced us to play our best cricket,” said by Rawalpindi born.
Umar feels that it wasn’t an easy effort to take down teams that had many quality players. Moreover, he was delighted with the response of the Faisalabad crowd who turned out in large numbers to support all the teams.
