Ravindra Jadeja’s omission from the T20I squad for the three-match series against Bangladesh has been a big surprise. Jadeja has been replaced with Krunal Pandya in the lineup but his recent performances against South Africa in the Test series indicate that he should have been preferred over the latter.
Jadeja’s supreme all-round skills dominated the Proteas as he scored 212 runs with two half-centuries, the best score of 91 and picked 13 wickets with the best bowling of 4/87 across the three Tests.
Confused by the selectors’ choice, left-arm paceman Irfan Pathan took to Twitter to share his surprise over Jadeja’s exclusion.
Irfan felt Jadeja was at the peak batting form in his career and thus needed to be in the squad. However, the decision to leave out the all-rounder might be motivated by the workload management policy adopted by the Indian team think-tank.
