It seems that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to look towards future as the veteran all-rounders Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez have been ignored for the forthcoming T20I series against Australia. The squad consists of the domestic performers with prolific batsman Babar Azam performing the duties of the skipper of the side.
Recently, senior pro Mohammad Hafeez was found discussing his exclusion from the national team. The 39-year old cricketer admitted that he was hopeful of making it back to the team for a tough tour of Australia. However, Misbah-ul-Haq led selection committee’s decision to keep him away from the green team left Hafeez perplexed and frustrated.
Hafeez is of the opinion that board has made a policy of keeping him and Malik out of the team, but they are reluctant to discuss it openly. Nevertheless, the Sargodha born extended his best wishes to the boys in green, particularly Babar Azam who will carry the extra responsibility of the captaincy. It remains to be seen how a young side fares against the quality of Australia.
