Gone are those days when Indian pacers were found getting hammered time and again. These days, they strike fear in the mind of batters with a series of sparkling performances. As a result, India has improved significantly as a gun pace battery and it has augmented their chances greatly.
Recently, India whitewashed South Africa 3-0 at their home. While spinners were expected to make the major contribution, Indian pacers weren’t behind as Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami all recorded impressive displays.
All this moved the former Australian cricketer Ian Chappell to admire the quality of the Indian pace battery. The 76-year old didn’t shy away from admitting that the men in blue now contains a pace battery of all the conditions.
Chappell particularly highlighted the recently concluded series against the rainbow nation where Indian pacers ruled the show despite the absence of the leader of the bowling unit Jasprit Bumrah. Keeping this in mind, South Australia born predicts India to become an even hard nut to crack both home and away.
