Steve Smith proves his class once again with another classical knock. The right-handed batsman scored 53 off just 36 balls and led Australia to a comprehensive win over Sri Lanka. His innings included 6 boundaries.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. The Islanders managed to score only 117 runs courtesy of some inexplicable bowling from Australia. Kusal Perera was the top-scorer (27) from the Sri Lankan side.
In reply, Australia chased the target with 9 wickets in hand. David Warner was the top-scorer with 60 runs whereas Smith scored 53 runs. Steve Smith’s return to the T20I format with some form behind him is a good sign for Australia with just less than one year left in the ICC T20I World Cup.
