Bollywood star Anushka Sharma has lashed out at former Indian cricketer Farokh Engineer’s atrocious claims regarding the actress influencing the team’s selection committee. In a lengthy statement uploaded on her social media handles, Anushka responded to the baseless allegations by Farokh and hit back at the constant bickering about her.
“We have got a Mickey Mouse selection committee. All they were doing was getting Anushka Sharma cups of tea. I feel people with the stature of Dilip Vengsarkar should be in the selection committee,” Farokh had earlier remarked, which infuriated Anushka to the extent she had to write a long reply.
Ever since her marriage to Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Anushka has needlessly been forced into discussions surrounding the country’s cricket. Shedding light on such instances, Anushka claimed to have been blamed for her husband’s slump in form at one stage. She also pointed out when the media villainized her for being given preferential treatment during Indian tours as she refuted this accusation calling it an absolute lie.
She said the latest insensitive comment from Farokh enraged her and requested everyone to avoid using her name merely for giving sensationalized opinions.
“If you want to have a comment on the selection committee and their qualifications please do so as it’s your opinion but don’t drag my name into it to substantiate your claim or sensationalize your opinion. I refuse to allow anyone from using my name in such conversations,” Anuskha wrote.
She signed off her post on a sarcastic note by saying she prefers coffee in contrary to Farokh’s statement that she was served tea by the selectors in England.
