Bangladesh pulled off a remarkable win against India in the first T20I of the three-match series at the back of an imperious knock from Mushfiqur Rahim. The veteran anchored Bangladesh’s chase superbly and led them to a seven-wicket win in the last over of the game.
Reacting to Mushfiqur’s stupendous batting heroics, former West Indies speedster Ian Bishop commended the wicketkeeper’s mature knock in contrast to what transpired in Bangladesh’s notorious loss to the same opponent in the World T20 in 2016.
Bangladesh needed two runs from three balls on that fated night in Bengaluru but the well-set duo of Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah imploded in successive deliveries and the next man in was run out handing India a dramatic victory. Bishop thus referred to that dispiriting defeat and claimed Mushfiqur had finally learnt from his mistakes and would have buried the ghosts of that past loss.
