Indian Premier League (IPL) is hailed as one of the most enchanted cricket leagues in the world. With the advancing mode of cricket, IPL has decided to move one step further with some innovative ideas. IPL management has proposed a new system of substituting a player in the league known as “power player”.
This new system will authorize the teams to substitute a player after a fall of a wicket or at the end of an over. Explaining it further, the teams will not announce a 11-man squad rather they will have 15 players on the bench and they will be eligible to substitute any of the players according to the match situation.
As per news from the local networks, the BCCI has already accepted the proposal and they are planning to introduce it in the next season. "We are looking at a scenario where a team will not name the Playing XI. They will announce the 15-man squad and a player can be substituted at either the fall of a wicket or at the end of the over at any point in the game. While we are looking to introduce it in the IPL, trying the concept first in the upcoming Mushtaq Ali Trophy could be the ideal way forward," the board official told the local news network.
This new system aims to add more interest to the eagerly followed sport. This system will have the ability to change the situation of the match dramatically and allow the captains to think out-of-the-box. However, the official confirmation of this new model is yet to come.
