Zafar Gohar returned astonishing figures of 7/79 against Northern in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture to wrap up a huge 204-run win for table-toppers Central Punjab. The left-arm spinner scythed through the opposition with his sharply turning deliveries that managed to outfox the Northern batsmen.
Faced with the daunting task of chasing down 381, Northern had no answers to Gohar’s exquisite bowling heroics that helped consolidate Central Punjab’s reign at the top of the points table. Having picked up four wickets in the first innings, the 24-year-old registered a match-haul of 11/133.
His consistent brilliance with the ball has allowed him to experience a surge in the wicket-takers list as he is now positioned on the number one spot, edging ahead of Northern’s Nauman Ali. Gohar boasts 28 scalps at an average of 25.50 in this season so far.
