Pant's stumping 'brain-fade' draws caustic criticism

India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was once again in the limelight during the second T20I against Bangladesh after a mediocre outing in the previous game. This time, he was at the receiving end of acerbic criticism from fans on Twitter for enacting an erroneous stumping.

Pant’s ‘schoolboy error’ saw him grab the ball in front of the stumps while trying to dismiss Liton Das off the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal.

Das was miles out of the crease but Pant took the ball inches ahead of the wicket – which is not allowed under the playing regulations – and the stumping was declared illegal.

Pant’s mistake saw Twitter being flooded by bitter remarks directed at the 22-year-old.

A majority of users reminisced MS Dhoni’s dexterous glovework behind the stumps and slammed Pant, who is often deemed as the successor to the former skipper.
