Eoin Morgan and Dawid Malan flabbergasted the Kiwis at their own backyard as records tumbled at Napier. Batting first, England put up a total of 241-3 in their 20 overs. This is England’s highest ever total in T20Is beating their previous one (230 for 8) against South Africa in 2016.
England’s captain played a wonderful knock of 91 but the real star of the show was Dawid Malan who scored his maiden T20I century. Malan fired the New Zealand bowlers all-around the park in his knock of 103 from 51 balls.
The two players set up a partnership of 182 runs which is the 4th highest partnership for any wicket in T20Is. On the other hand, this is the highest partnership for a non-opening pair in the format.
These two smashed the Kiwi bowlers for 76 runs in the last 4 overs- which is the highest number of runs scored in the last 4 overs of an innings in T20Is. England managed to level the series with one more game to play.
