Hafeez denies reports of non-filing of tax returns

Pakistan’s veteran cricketer Mohammad Hafeez was recently found in the news for a wrong reason. Various media houses reported that the all-rounder has undeclared assets due to which he has been issued a notice by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) – a Pakistani government organization that investigates tax crimes and money-laundering.

However, Hafeez came out to clear everything as he discarded all such reports disdainfully. Using his official Twitter to handle to explain his position, the Sargodha born said that he doesn’t possess any undeclared asset. He further added that he hasn’t received any notice from any relevant department.

The 39-year old revealed that he has been a taxpayer and filing his returns since he started playing professional cricket. Moreover, he urged media to show responsibility while breaking any news as he called this report ‘baseless and false’.

Playing 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 89 T20Is, Hafeez has served Pakistan over a span of 17 years. With age not being on his side, the dexterous player is likely to quit International cricket in a year or two.
