Pakistan’s horrible run in 20-over cricket stretched to another day as the boys in green were unable to win the Perth T20I to draw the three-game T20I series. Once again, Pakistan’s batting came under scanner as the dearth of aggression allowed the hosts to down the tourists, thus winning the series 2-0.
With this, the criticism against the head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq gained momentum as people are bringing his ‘defensive nature’ into question.
Nevertheless, middle-order batsman Iftikhar Ahmed was found having a major disagreement with all the critics as he came forward to back the Mianwali born.
The 29-year old said that it is unwise to call Misbah defensive as he is someone who always talks about playing positive cricket.
Iftikhar added that his coach urges the green team to look for totals in excess of 180 and not settle for mediocrity, thus augmenting Pakistan’s chances to win more games. Moreover, the Peshawar born believes that Misbah was a positive cricketer during his tenure and this is translated in his coaching.
