Australia’s blockbuster start to the home season has impressed many including the former wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist who thinks that the team is in great shape for the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled next year.
Beating India 2-0 at their den and then recording elite outings against Sri Lanka (3-0 at home) and Pakistan (2-0) at home, Australia’s T20I journey in the year 2019 has been phenomenal. This moved Gilchrist to believe that his country is on the right track to end their drought of a T20 World Cup.
Sharing his views on the 20-over mega-event, the 48-year old said that Australia will also enjoy home advantage and they would fancy their chances in familiar conditions and at big grounds. Moreover, the strategy of Kangaroos to play their best team regularly has further moved the New South Wales born to believe that things are moving in the right direction for the yellow jersey. It would be interesting to see how Australia counters the challenge of top T20I teams like India, Pakistan, England and New Zealand in the T20 World Cup.
