Yasir Shah, the leg-spinner of Pakistan, holds a prolific record in the Test cricket and for this reason, he is hailed as country’s premier red-ball spinner. However, Yasir’s last tour of Australia proved to be a horrible encounter for him as the spin wizard picked only 8 wickets across 3 Tests, averaging 84 with the ball.
Nevertheless, head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq, who served as Pakistan’s captain on that tour, believes that this time Yasir Shah came to Australia with a better set of preparation. The 45-year old urged Yasir not to repeat the mistakes of the past tour as he sits hopeful for a strong show from his key spinner.
In the tour game against Australia, Yasir bowled decently and provided good support to the pace battery. It would be interesting to see how the Swabi born fares against the quality of a confident unit of Kangaroos. The two-game Test series, which is to commence Pakistan’s journey in the ICC World Test Championship, will get underway from November 21 in Brisbane.
