Haseeb Hameed joins Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club after Lancashire released him earlier in this year. Haseeb and Notts shook hands in a 2-year deal starting from the next season. Haseeb, who failed to score runs consistently since 2016, did not enjoy a good season with Lancashire cricket club. He had impressed until that point and there was some feeling that England had found the opening batsman they had been seeking.
Since then, however, Hameed has failed to repeat the form that initially secured him an England berth, highlighted by an average of less than 10 in 17 innings in the 2018 County Championship. Haseeb now hopes for a better stint with Notts as he seeks his form back.
Haseeb featured in the Test series against India back in 2016. The young batsman scored two half-centuries on that tour after which he fractured his finger. Since his injury, Haseeb went down in his form significantly.
“I’m very excited to be joining Nottinghamshire and playing my cricket at Trent Bridge,” he said of his move. I’ve enjoyed myself every time I’ve played at this great venue and hope to add to some good memories there. This is a new chapter in both my life and career and I’m full of excitement to start working with my new teammates and helping get Notts back up to Division One where they belong. I want to thank Lancashire for the support they’ve provided over the years and to my teammates, whom I’ve shared a dressing room with”, Haseeb said.
