Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s premier Test spinner, continued to swell his legacy in the International cricket. Dismissing Bangladesh’s skipper Mominul Haque in the opening Test match at Indore, the Test veteran registered his 250th Test wicket at home.
Doing so, Ashwin equaled the record of the legendary Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan by completing 250 Test wickets at home only in his 42nd Test. The prowess of the 33-year old cricketer was once again on the display as he foxed Mominul Haque with a lovely slider which was bowled around the wicket. This also allowed the men in blue to open an end by claiming a price wicket. Other members of this elite list includes Anil Kumble, Rangana Herath, Dale Steyn and Harbhajan Singh.
The Chennai born who claimed 2 wickets in the first innings to help India dismiss Bangladesh for a modest total of 150 runs, thus giving the men in blue an early advantage in the two-game Test series. The Tigers will have to do something special to force their way back into the game against a unit which is filled with quality cricketers.
