Hard-hitting Pakistan batsman Asif Ali made an impactful contribution to help Cape Town Blitz triumph over Durban Heat in the Mzansi Super League (MSL). The 28-year-old smashed a terrific 43 off 26 deliveries laden with four sixes and two fours helping Blitz post an imposing total in their 20 overs.
Coming into bat in the middle overs, Asif instantly picked up the scoring pace as the bowlers suffered the wrath of his clean striking. His storming stay at the crease provided Blitz with the impetus to finish with an impressive score of 174/6 by the end of the innings.
Asif’s fellow compatriot Wahab Riaz and veteran paceman Dale Steyn then did a tremendous job to defend the total consigning Durban to a 10-run loss. Asif’s return to form is an encouraging sign for his MSL team since his performances on the international stage have been underwhelming lately.
