Former leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed is all set to become Pakistan’s new spin bowling consultant according to sources. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently issued an advertisement for the post with the national side demanding a five-year experience and level-three coaching certificate.
Sources suggest that Mushtaq’s name was recommended by Pakistan head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq, which might be an indication towards the emphasis on developing wrist-spinners for the future.
Mushtaq has plenty of experience up his sleeves and was the spin bowling coach for West Indies in the 2019 World Cup. He was Pakistan’s bowling consultant between 2014 and 2016 and before that, worked with England for six years. Known for his skillful use of the googly delivery during his playing days, Mushtaq has developed a quality coaching career as well.
