Pakistan are all set to kick off their World Test Championship campaign with the two-match series against Australia. With most teams already having played a series to mark their entry in the championship, this will be Pakistan’s opening assignment in the inaugural tournament.
Talking to reporters ahead of the first Test against Australia, opening batsman Shan Masood underscored the importance of excelling in the World Test Championship. He admitted his team were still settling into the new format but saw great potential in the competition. With 60 points for each win in the two-match series, Shan reiterated his team knew the significance of succeeding was enormous.
"I think we are still settling in terms of accepting World Test Championship. It's too early to look into the final which is in two years’ time but it's a great opportunity. The points that are available in both Test matches are quite significant because it's a two-match series,” Shan said.
