Bangladesh’s seam bowler Shahadat Hossain faces a year-long ban after he was found guilty of assaulting Arafat Sunny during a domestic League game. Shahadat was alleged to hit Arafat Sunny following a dispute over the shinning of the ball.
A one-year suspension is in the upper echelons of sanctions available to the NCL’s technical committee, which will decide on the bowler’s punishment. He could also be fined 50,000 BDT (£455).
This is not the first time Shahadat has come under scrutiny of the law. Back in 2015, he was arrested with charges of torturing the housemaid. Later, he was acquitted when the prosecution could not prove the allegations. He played his last International game against Pakistan in 2015.
