Australia are all set to take on Pakistan for what is potentially a high-voltage Test series at home. While Australia is generally regarded as major force in the cricketing world, they have a middling ranking in the longest format indicating their struggles in Test cricket.
Australia are currently placed at No. 5 in the ICC Test Team Rankings, two spots above their opponents Pakistan. Trying to comprehend Australia’s straggling place in the rankings, head coach Justin Langer has cited their batting woes since the batsmen have failed to regularly score more than 300 in the first innings.
“We’re number five in the world in Test cricket at the moment, and there’s reasons for that. One of them is that we don’t score 300-plus in the first innings enough. Our batters are very aware of that,” he said. Langer also vowed to improve this certain aspect of the Australian team during their clash against Pakistan.
