Haris Sohail was one of Pakistan’s top performers in the World Cup earlier this summer but he has been unable to do justice to his immense potential on the Australia tour thus far. He could manage just 18 runs across the three T20Is against Australia and failed in the two outings against Australia A in the tour game.
Amidst this gloomy backdrop for Haris, the left-handed batsman was able to retain his number three slot in the Test side. However, the 30-year-old once again could not seize the opportunity and purposelessly wafted the bat away from the body to give Tim Paine an easy catch off the bowling of Mitchell Starc.
Haris lasted a total of 15 deliveries out in the middle for an excruciating stay at the crease and could make only a single run. His dismissal in the midst of a collapse did little to help Pakistan’s cause and his position in the team might be under review following a string of mediocre performances.
