Senior Indian pacer Ishant Sharma wreaked havoc on the Bangladesh batting lineup on the opening day of the historic pink-ball Test at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Bangladesh found it hard to cope with Ishant’s sharp pace and bounce on a placid surface as they folded like a pack of cards.
The 31-year-old snared five wickets for just 22 runs as the visitors were bundled out for a paltry sum of 106 runs on the board. Ishant found prodigious seam movement off the deck as he scythed through the Bangladesh batting order.
Having been constrained to being a Test specialist in terms of national duty, Ishant is nevertheless thriving in the longest format and excelling even in unhelpful conditions. Interestingly, this is Ishant’s first five-wicket haul at home since his 5/118 against Pakistan in 2007.
