The selection of right-arm paceman Imran Khan in the Test squad for the Australia tour was one of the most surprising call-ups opted by chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq. Imran, who has represented Pakistan in nine Test matches, last turned out for his national side in 2017 and was unceremoniously dropped from the team after one poor performance.
Imran then delivered a blazing spell in the tour game against Australia A, boasting the presence of international cricketers.
Imran Khan had a poor outing against Australia in the 1st Test
His bowling heroics in the practice match enabled him to make the cut for the playing XI in the opening Test against Australia, edging out seam bowler Mohammad Abbas.
The 32-year-old, however, had to toil hard for a major part of two days without much success before finally claiming a solitary wicket of tail-ender Pat Cummins. Imran returned ordinary figures of 1/73 in 24 overs in the first innings and it seems like he will be unable to cling onto his spot in the team for the next Test.
