Mohammad Rizwan played a brilliant supporting act to Babar Azam’s fantastic century as the duo delayed Australia’s march towards victory on the fourth day of the opening Test. Rizwan, making his comeback to the Test unit after a prolonged period of absence, stood tall against Australia’s quality pace attack and hit 10 boundaries during his impressive contribution of 95 runs.
Although Rizwan’s brilliant effort with the bat could not prevent an innings defeat for his side, he has received immense adulation from the Twitter community.
Twitterati was quick to point out how Rizwan’s wonderful innings showed he was a superior batsman in comparison to former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s ordinary form of late.
Sarfaraz was dropped from the side following the T20I series whitewash at the hands of Sri Lanka and Rizwan has instantly made an impact in Test cricket by replacing him. Fans believed Rizwan was the perfect candidate to replace Sarfaraz after his heroics at the Gabba although the latter possesses a decent record of an average of 36.39 in 49 Test appearances.
